          My name is Marcela Páez. I'm actress and dancer, graduated in Theatrical Interpretation (BA) by the University of São Paulo (2014) and in classical ballet by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) method at the Estúdio de Ballet Cisne Negro (2007).

        I had been devoting myself to the research and creation in hybrid areas between dance and theater, focusing on the possible dialogues between the two languages. With this focus, I develop both artistic and pedagogical work – creating works directed directly to the scene as well as teaching initiation and training classes of performing arts (contemporary dance and theater) and classical ballet.

          Nowadays I integrate as dancer the Núcleo de Improvisação, group directed by Zélia Monteiro and Cia. Oito Nova Dança, directed by Lu Favoreto – both award winning groups, with more than 20 years of experience and recently contemplated by the 23 and 24 editions of Fomento à Dança de São Paulo. Besides integrating the cast of these two companies, I am also one of the interpreter-creators of MUMBRA corpomóvel – independent feminine art collective created in 2015, dedicated to investigate the hybridism between the different languages ​​of the scene and its expressive possibilities, preferentially addressing the feminist theme. In 2015, MUMBRA corpomóvel was awarded with PROAC Primeiras Obras em Dança, which allowed to play the first group piece Intempéries: Ruminações sobre Pertencer (2015) and to debut his second work PÓ (2016).

       In parallel with the activities of the three groups – which allowed me to perform in various theaters and cultural spaces of the city and state, I had been developing solo projects, such as: STRANJERA projected to debut in 2019, which began in 2014 as a series of short solo studies that focus on the theme of the Foreigner, discussed from different perspectives.
