Núcleo de Improvisação

Núcleo de Improvisação is a research group in contemporary dance directed by Zélia Monteiro, which appeared in 1998 from the desire of some artists to deepen and give continuity to the language research initiated by Klauss Vianna. The group studies improvisation not only as a procedure to explore and create new grammars of movements, but fundamentally as structure of composition of the spectacle, that means that all languages of the scene improvise together: dance, lighting and music. It brings together artists with experiences in different languages: dance, theater, music and visual arts. It draws on Klauss Vianna's approach and thinking about body and dance and uses these principles as means of studying, discovering and creating interfaces between different artistic languages.
